Not every tractor has a continuously variable transmission. And even the continuously variable transmissions are not as simple in construction as the standard one in farming simulator.
This script adds on the basis of the file gearboxAddonConfig.xml a gearbox to all configured tractors. Many various transmission kinds can be simulated. There are classic gearboxes with gears, one or two groups and reverse gears or groups. Shorting the response time to zero will result into a power shift transmission.
In modern tractors power shift transmissions are often combined with automatic gear shifting. Another transmission type is the continuously variable transmissions.
There are models with one or two gears like the Fendt Vario. Other models combine four automatically switched mechanical gears with a continuously variable hydrostatic drive. All of these continuously variable transmission have one thing in common. The efficiency varies quite strongly depending on the gear ratio.

Hi! Thanks for your efforts in making FS17 a much better simulation. In this version I particulary like the 4WD and diff selector as well as all the single setings, but… there is an issue while buing vehicles with “Gearbox addon off”, the game gets stuck; also when trying to change a bought vehicle to “Gearbox addon off”, the game gets stuck and you get to vehicles pile on top of eachother… Another REALLY annoying thing arethe wrong power requests: I’m using “Straw harvest addon”, and there is no way of making the pellet maching with bale extension to work, as not even the biggest tracktor appears to have enough power available !?! even though the indocated power required is 350HP ! Even the default Grimme potato harvester will permamently stop on flat ground while harvesting on AI if Gearbox addon is enabled for AI due to “not enough power” ??? How is that possible.
Could you PLEASE fix this, as I belive that Gearbox addon is an absolute must for FS… Thank you very much!

My game frozen also with gearbox mod in switched off state. I using “Better fuel usage mod”. When I deleted this mod, the game and the vehicle running fine!
I wrote this to author! I hope he make a fix for this mod! Until then I will try to use the game without fuel mod.

There is another issue: The game hangs when trying to buy or lease some of the new vehicles from the “ROPA DLC” released today by gianst… It is related to the gearbox add on, because without it, all is fine!
I have an issue: when I turn off the Gearbox Mod in one tractor, it turns the mod off on all the tractors, when I turn it on in one tractor, all the others turn on as well. Gearbox mod version 2 didn’t do this, and I would like it fixed in version 3, so I can use the Gearbox mod in some tractors and not others.
You can choose in the sesification manu of you want that tractor to have it or not
